One of the key management functions of any business officer who has responsibility for fire safety is the provision of effective fire safety training to all levels of staff within the organisation. It is a statutory duty to provide induction and regular fire safety awareness training which should be consistent, informative and specific. Fire safety training is linked directly with evacuation procedures. Procedures may be straightforward or, depending on the occupation and processes of the organisation, more complex. Fire precautions installations such as fire alarm systems, no matter how sophisticated are only as effective as the procedures put in place to respond to the information provided by the equipment. Life safety and to some extent property and business protection are dependent on training put in place to ensure efficient enactment of the procedures.

LWF are able to design the total procedure and training process for your specific operation at both strategic and tactical levels:

  • Compilation of specific evacuation procedures related to your legal requirements under current fire safety legislation (Fire precautions Act 1971 and Fire Precautions (Workplace) Regulations 1997). Procedures would also reflect business and property protection issues.

  • High level briefing/training of senior staff with co-ordination or fire safety management responsibilities.

  • Training staff as trainers to provide fire safety induction and training to general staff members.

Many establishments either have existing fire safety procedures or require only straightforward systems to effect safe evacuation and meet any statutory duty imposed on them. In this instance LWF are able to:

  • Review existing evacuation and fire safety procedures.

  • Provide fire safety training to those with specific fire safety responsibilities such as Fire Wardens.

  • Provide general fire safety training to all staff members to a standard and content to meet statutory obligations and business objectives.

  • Undertake post evacuation audits.

Certification is available for attendees of training sessions. Further, a corporate staff training registration package is available that consists of a database of training record set up for your maintenance or alternatively, held and maintained on your behalf by our engineers. A copy of the record is maintained by the client in the event that the fire authority request proof of training.
